Here’s everything you need to know for applying for a Medical Marijuana Card in Maryland.

Who is eligible to register as a patient?

Any individual resident of Maryland State whose debilitating condition requires Medical Marijuana access as a treatment option recommended by a state-licensed Medical Doctor is eligible to register with Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) as a patient. MMCC is the regulative authority responsible for scrutinizing the applications and approvals, management, licensing, registration, and testing measures associated with Maryland’s Medical Cannabis Program. The qualifying conditions approved by MMCC include wasting syndrome, PTSD, seizures, severe nausea, persistent muscle spasms, chronic pain, cachexia, anorexia, or any other medical condition that is severe and for which other treatments are found ineffective.

A registered patient is allowed to designate a maximum of 2 caregivers at a time aged 21 years or more. A caregiver must be registered with MMCC and obtain ID Cards from the state commission. With a valid Caregiver MMCC ID card, a registered caregiver can purchase and possess Medical Marijuana on the patient’s behalf.

Essential to note!

Minor patients ageing less than 18 years must have at least one caregiver all the time, who is the legal guardian or parent of the minor.

How to register as a patient?

While registering as a patient with MMCC, the process and the requirements differ for minor and adult patients. Though the process is entirely online, the user must complete the application submission in one session with a completed application form. Also, keep yourself geared up with the digital copy of all the essential documents and information.

Noteworthy!

New applicants and renewal patients must submit a mandatory and non-refundable registration fee of $50.
